MOM-n-PA is an annual two-day free dental clinic held in Santander Arena, Reading, Pennsylvania, that is designed to treat the most pressing needs of patients that would normally not have access to dental care. All services are provided free of charge by a host of dedicated volunteers, including 19 United States-based International College of Dentists Fellows. The mission is to relieve the pain and suffering due to dental disease for the underserved, as well as provide patients with preventive dental measures through personalized dental education and distribution of home care products, and references to community dental clinics that can serve as their future dental homes. This is in addition to the six community tables where neighborhood organizations provided information raising awareness on resources related to health, housing, and nutrition. Also, through collecting data from this event, event partners are attempting to increase access and funding to dental care in Pennsylvania. They also examine the data and make changes to their practices and policies to meet the needs of patients. A win-win!
