Protects the dentin; penetrates, fills, and seals the tubuli. Insulates against thermal and electrical shock and provides a strong bond between dentin and restoration. Prevents hyperemia and discoloration and provides excellent marginal seal. Ether-based. Can be used only under amalgam.
