Nano-Silver based Hydrogel Inhibits the growth of microorganisms such as Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, MRSA, VRE and fungi
Catalytic- killing bacteria rapidly and continuously Other silvers are ionic
Multivalent - pulls multiple electrons from bacteria - but is not deactivated and keeps on killing Old technology silvers are univalent, which pull one electron from bacteria wall and are then deactivated and unable to kill any more bacteria
No known or expected adverse events Some antibacterials contain ingredients that can cause allergic reactions or bacterial resistance
Not deactivated by saline irrigation All other ionic silvers are deactivated by saline
Rapid & continuous bactericidal activity at low concentrations - only 32 parts per million (PPM) Regular use of old technology silver-based products can cause silver staining
Transparent gel - allows visualization of the wound bed or suture line Allows visualization of the wound bed or suture line
Water-based formulation Does not occlude
Does not contain alcohol, non-flammable Non Flammable and can be used around oxygen, electro cautery or hyperbaric chamber

Most providers are prescribing SilvrSTAT where an OTC antibiotic would have previously been used to protect both their patients from acquiring MRSA or another hospital acquired infection, and to avoid incurring a facility chargeback for a readmission related to an infection. 2) What is the frequency for dressing change?

Answer: SilvrSTAT® gel should normally be changed every 24 to 72 hours, but the frequency will depend on the type and condition of the wound.

4) What is the difference between ionic and molecular silver?

Answer: Ionic silver has a plus one charge. Once an electron is pulled into the ionic silver, it becomes bound and can no longer attract additional electrons. SilvrSTAT®'s molecular silver has a neutral charge and remains unbound stealing and expelling electrons as long as it remains in the wound bed making it much more powerful.

5) Can SilvrSTAT® be used in hyperbaric therapy?
