Application:
TheraClear's two-part process utilizes a vacuum and broadband light to clean, treat and remove the blocks to clear skin. Treatments are quick to perform and highly effective.
Vacuum: Deep cleanses the pore by extracting the blocked sebaceous material.
Broadband Light: Light targets porphryns, destroying the P. acne bacteria, reduces sebum production, and dramatically reduces the erythema (redness), and pigmentary changes associated with acne.
The TheraClear™ Acne System Vacuum and Light Treatment
Most acne patients require 4 or 5 treatments every week to two weeks. Usually after one treatment, there is very little improvement. After the second treatment, the patient should notice a modest improvement. The third treatment, however seems to produce the most significant improvement and after the fourth and fifth treatment, most if not all the acne lesions should be gone.
During this series of treatments, the patient may remain on any traditional acne therapies they feel comfortable using. They also should maintain a good skin care regimen which as the doctor, you can influence with recommended protocols. Following the final treatment, the patient may also remain on any therapies they feel comfortable with and also must maintain a good skin care regimen.
Most patients require a single touch up treatment every three to four months.
The TheraClear™ Acne Surgery Insert Treatment
Treatment with The TheraClear™ Acne Surgery Insert(364-0460) is generally performed on the session. Not every patient is treated with this insert. It is used to target the largest acne lesions, particularly ones that are firmly embedded under the skin. The image below shows a typical lesion treated with the acne surgery insert.
The use of The TheraClear™ Acne Surgery Insert is very helpful in treating young to middle age adults with a few lesions that distract from an otherwise ideal complexion. Results generally show up within a few days to a week after a session.

Answer: Comparative energy-based devices do not have a suction component. Without the suction, the sebum remains inside the pilosebaceous gland making the treatment far less effective. Also, TheraClear is the only unit that has cooling function built into the device. Consult the accompanying chart for a comparison of indicated acne therapies.
